French Courses

Introduction to French (BURLINGTON)

Instructor: Anna Maria
Developing a functional or conversational command of the French language can really help to enhance the appreciation for and enjoyment of so many aspects of French and French Canadian culture. This course includes conversational French, which emphasizes learning basic introductions and the ability to have simple conversations, go shopping, order in a restaurant, speak on the phone, and ask for directions. Monday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Start date: Monday, April 12, 2010    End date: Monday, June 21, 2010

*No class on Monday, May 24 due to stat holiday

Cost: $210 (GST included)
Once enrolled, students also have the option of ordering a reference book at a cost of $30

French - Level 2 (BURLINGTON)

Instructor: Anna Maria
This course emphasizes practical learning and further develops conversational skills through a variety of interesting and instructional situations, including discussions on pop culture, debates about current affairs, mock interviews, and interactive games. (Pre-requisite: Introduction to French or equivalent).  Monday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Start date: Monday, April 12, 2010    End date: Monday, June 21, 2010

Spanish Courses

Spanish - Level 1 (MILTON)

Instructor: Lucy
This introductory course teaches the skills necessary for basic conversational communication in a variety of situations, and includes vocabulary and grammar.  Monday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

This course emphasizes practical learning and further development of skills through dialogues, conversation, and short stories. (Pre-requisite: Spanish Level 1 or equivalent)  Tuesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Start date: Tuesday, April 13, 2010   End date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Spanish - Level 2 (BURLINGTON)

This course emphasizes practical learning and further development of skills through dialogues, conversation, and short stories. (Pre-requisite: Spanish Level 1 or equivalent).  Wednesday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Start date: Wednesday, April 14, 2010          End date: Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Spanish - Level 3 (MILTON)

Instructor: Lucy
This course provides a more in-depth understanding of the Spanish language and culture. It progresses at a more accelerated pace with extensive use of grammar, vocabulary, and reading. Focus will be on conversational Spanish for local or travel purposes. (Pre-requisite: Spanish Level 2 or equivalent). Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Spanish – Avanzado (BURLINGTON)

Instructor: Lucy
This course provides very advanced and complete use of Spanish grammar (all of the Subjunctive, verbs with prepositions, the Passive Voice, etc.) It also includes advanced stories and debates for total immersion in the rich Spanish language and culture. (Pre-requisite: Spanish Level 5 or equivalent).  Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Italian Courses

Introduction to Italian (BURLINGTON)

Instructor: Anna Maria
This introductory course teaches the skills necessary for basic conversational communication, and includes: learning the Italian alphabet, basic grammar, and elementary reading and writing through structured class lessons. Conversational skills are developed through the use of dialogues and mini conversations, which emphasize Italian phonetics, basic expressions and idioms.  Thursday evenings from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m.
