Would you like to build an exciting new
career in the trades?
The Centre, in partnership with Mohawk, RESCON (Residential Construction Council of Central Ontario), and The Government of Ontario is proud to offer its latest
Women in Skilled Trades career training
program: Enhanced General Carpentry.
This dynamic program offers up to 22 women
the opportunity to train for a rewarding
new career in the Construction industry. It features 28 weeks of in-class instruction, and paid work placement component.
26 Weeks of
In-Class and Hands-On Training
Construction and Applied Theory
Construction safety training, effective use of hand and power tools,
framing techniques, drywall installation, trim work, floor finishes, cabinet making, exterior finishes,
basic electrical and 4 weeks of plumbing at Mohawk College STARRT Institute
Essential/Employability Skills
This
component includes First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, basic fall protection, the Ontario Building Code, blueprint reading, estimating, numeracy, communications skills
training, job searching, resumes and interview skills
Paid Work Placement
To help prepare you for full-time employment,
our dedicated and professional placement
staff will help you to obtain a
paid work placement with a sub-contractor of a major industry builder. This placement
may even lead to full-time employment
with
apprenticeship potential.
This program is offered exclusively in our
Burlington
location.
