Electronics Technician Skilled Trades Training

The Electronics Technician program teaches the skills needed to assemble, install, troubleshoot and repair circuit boards and electronic equipment. Students learn electrical theory and how to work with circuits and the components of electronic systems, such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors and integrated circuits, including soldering techniques. The focus is on a broad understanding of the field that students can apply to specific areas of interest or employment.

10 Weeks of In-Class and Hands-On Training

  • Electrical Theory
    Structure of an atom, Electrical quantities, Magnetism, Passive components (resistors, inductors and capacitors), Circuit calculations (series, parallel and combination), Measuring instruments, Semiconductors

  • Extensive Practical Training
    Resistors colour code/tolerance, Diodes testing and applications, SCR and TRIAC circuits, Digital counter, Logic gates and displays, Operational amplifiers, Audio amplifier, AM/FM Radi, Troubleshooting and problem-solving
