New Home Construction
Are you interested in a career in the construction
industry? The Centre can help you build a
better future through this dynamic, full-time,
Skilled Trades Training program designed to give
you the skills and experience you need to
begin an exciting new career in the construction
industry.
It features 10 weeks of in-class instruction
and 8 weeks of on-the-job training taught
by instructors who have not only a strong
understanding of theory but also years of
hands-on industry experience. It also features
job search assistance.
10 Weeks of Hands-On, In-Class Instruction
- Technical
Subjects
Effective use of hand and power tools,
Introduction to blueprint reading,
Introduction to the
Ontario Building Code – Section
9, Construction Estimating, Window & Door Installations, Floor/Wall/Roof Systems, Construction
Safety
Training and Basic fall protection
- Employability Skills
Critical for employment success, this component
includes Resumes, Interview Skills, First
Aid, WHMIS and Soft Skills Training
8 Weeks Hands-On, Instructor-Led, On-the-Job
Training
- You’ll learn about a specific
Construction Industry sub-trade such as
framing.
- You’ll practice your skills by
framing a house from foundation right
through to final framing details
