Employment Counselling

Employment Counselling is a professional, government-funded service that provides one-on-one work-related counselling and guidance to help you do some or all of the following:

  • figure out where your strengths lie;
  • sort out exactly what kinds of jobs to apply for, and what (if any) upgrading might make sense in the short- and long-terms;
  • get clear on what's been going wrong in past jobs, companies and fields – and how to turn this around;
  • learn how to improve your resumes, cover letters, interview and self-promotion skills;
  • find out how & where to find practical and up-to-date occupational and labour market information;
  • learn how to improve your job search strategy to get the results you want – tap into the “hidden” job market; and/or
  • hear about other helpful community resources that can help you move toward your career and work goals.

Whether you're unclear on what jobs to apply for, unsure about where your strengths lie, or undecided about what kinds of careers might suit you best, our Employment Counselling program can help!

This service is free for anyone aged 16 years and up who is not a full-time student and is either working under 20 hours per week, has notice of imminent layoff, or must leave their current occupation because of medical reasons.
