TRADE IN CANADA: The Centre celebrates Skilled Trades Day on November 5
The Centre for Skills Development & Training is celebrating Skilled Trades Day in Canada on Monday, November 5, 2007. Youth, parents, and the general public are invited to come to The Centre (at 860 Harrington Court in Burlington) between 5–8 pm to find out how the skilled trades can be a fulfilling and well-paying career option.
The Centre offers pre-apprenticeship programs in Construction (Residential and Commercial), Electrical, Millwright/Machining, Tool & Die Making, and Enhanced General Carpentry for Women. On November 5, visitors will see the trades in action through demonstrations of skills, tools, and machines. They will also be able to talk to students and instructors, and take tours of the facility.
"Even though the skilled trades industry is an excellent career path, many young people don’t know what trades careers look like or what they entail," says Nancy Moore, Senior Programs Manager at The Centre. "Skilled Trades Day is an excellent opportunity to investigate options in this rewarding field."
