New roofing program promotes skilled trades training
Burlington, ON - The Centre for Skills Development & Training has joined with DeLuca Roofing Inc. to offer a new pre-apprenticeship program to train workers for the roofing industry.
"This project addresses a national priority to encourage young Canadians to enter skilled trades careers," says Nancy Moore, Senior Programs Manager at The Centre. "The program will help to promote the viability of a trades education, and at the same time, give participants the skills and experience to succeed."
Participants in the program will be provided with in-school and on-the-job training in the technical and safety-related skills of roofing, as well as the career options available to them in the roofing industry. After eight weeks of in-class instruction and twelve weeks of a paid work placement, successful graduates of the program will be offered permanent, full-time positions with DeLuca Roofing.
"We're looking to grow our business by retaining a skilled and motivated workforce," says Rob DeLuca, President of DeLuca Roofing. "We believe this training program will help us do that." DeLuca Roofing Inc. is a specialist in the roofing industry, known for customized roofing solutions, top quality workmanship, and focus on customer service.
The DeLuca Roofing program is one of several customized pre-apprenticeship training programs at The Centre. Joint programs developed to address workforce development needs are also delivered in partnership with Martinrea International and Scott Steel Erectors.
Information sessions will take place March 22 and 29 for the program start of April 16. For more information about the DeLuca Roofing Pre-Apprenticeship Program, visit www.thecentre.on.ca or call 905-333-3499, ext. 121.
