Helping women discover What Next with Company of Women
For some people, a pink slip can bring anxiety, stress and questions about the future. For others, it’s the freedom to finally turn that side project into a full-fledged business. Women facing this situation can find support through a new program being offered by the Company of Women.
The Centre for Skills Development & Training is proud to sponsor “What Next,” a program geared to women who are in transition in their careers, and who need help to move forward.
I am so pleased to be able to work with the Company of Women to help women and other people who are moving on to the next stage in their careers. The What Next program brings together the networking powerhouse of Company of Women and the full suite of career services provided by The Centre, along with the volunteer efforts of local business coaches. The Centre’s involvement really is a perfect fit.
The first What Next program launches on April 23, 2009, with an intimate group of up to 12 women. The program features meetings every two weeks for two months, with personalized attention from a business coach in between meetings for each participant.
For its part, The Centre will be introducing What Next participants to the many resources available at our Employment Resource Centres. Some participants may want to evaluate their entrepreneurial potential. For those women, and when appropriate, The Centre will be administering the Self Employment Profile assessment (SEP).
Anne Day, founder of the Company of Women and recent recipient of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Oakville Awards for Business Excellence, is the driving force behind What Next. Here’s what she had to say about our partnership on this program:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Centre for Skills Development & Training. This program offers a wonderful opportunity for women to benefit from the coaches and the one-on-one support as well as the career resources available through The Centre.”
Think What Next might be for you? Check out the information on the Company of Women website.
If you know someone who might be interested, feel free to download the What Next flyer and pass it on.
